PPR water pipes, short for random copolymer polypropylene pipes, are polymeric pipes made from type III polypropylene. These pipes are characterized by high temperature resistance (up to 90℃), good pressure resistance, hygiene, and leak-proof hot-melt connections. They have a service life of up to 50 years and are mainly used in building water supply and drainage, urban and rural water supply and drainage, and agricultural irrigation. As a replacement for galvanized pipes, UPVC water supply pipes, and aluminum-plastic composite pipes, their materials are non-toxic and environmentally friendly and have passed national standard certification [1-2]. The color of PPR pipes is determined by the added color masterbatch. Cold water pipes and hot water pipes are distinguished by blue/red marking lines and pipe wall thickness. Hot-melt socket connection technology is used, requiring the use of special hot-melt tools and control of parameters such as heating time and insertion depth. During construction, low-temperature brittleness must be avoided. For exposed or buried installations, supports (spacing ≤400mm) must be installed and anti-expansion measures must be taken. In winter, when the temperature is below 5℃, the heating time needs to be extended by 50%. Compared with copper pipes and aluminum-plastic composite pipes, PPR pipes have the advantages of moderate price and stable performance, but the cost of fittings is higher and the construction requirements are strict.
